Happy Newness and the Best of 2012!

Happy New Year, all. I hope it was rung in properly at yours. Mine was mellow. A few friends, a few bottles of wine and games of chance for high stakes (Left Center Right). Today is David Bowie's birthday, so I was thrilled to wake up to his new single Where Are We Now? The most amazing thing is how he kept his recording sessions and release under wraps until the very last minute. Isn't this the man who basically brought the sound of Orwell's 1984 to life? As you may recall, I covered Bowie's "Let's Dance" in Liverpool acoustically; and here in L.A. with a full horn section. If he tours his new album, I will have to see him. I am in the throes of completing this year's Grammy ballot. I due my diligence and listen to as many nominated records as possible. Every year I find a new favorite or two. I'm nearly done. Some categories (for LPs particularly) can be time consuming; but as I just said, it can be worth it to uncover some gold. I got my ...

5 Towers Show Recap

Happy Christmas! Happy Hanukkah! What a way to ring in the holiday season with CityWalk's Holiday 2012 festivities. I had a blast last night performing for somewhere between 500 and 700 of my closest friends. The 5 Towers was ablaze with Christmas lights, 15 foot tall tin soldiers, giant gift boxes and THE INIMITABLES! I love my band (Kevin Jarvis, Evie Sands, Teresa Cowles & Adam Marsland). They were on point, even as temps dipped into the 50's; the crowd was equally energized and you all sang along beautifully. It's great to perform on CityWalk to see all of the different ages and faces that might not otherwise experience a club show. That aspect is really cool. Speaking of singing along; She's My Go-To continues to be a truly interactive joint. My favorite part of the show was digging into Your Majestic Rejection . If I could go back in time to be a part of a Motown Revue... I speak for the band when I tell you that the sound was dialed-in. No real surpris...

Liverpool Sound & Vision Review of On The Rebound and More

It's the beginning of December and a big week here for me. I was feeling under the weather today. All this rain made it easy to nap this afternoon. That came in handy for being upright for a big Hollywood to-do tonight. Here's my news: 1. Check out the latest review of ON THE REBOUND from Liverpool Sound & Vision . It's no mistake that I have played as many shows in Liverpool the past 6 years as in Los Angeles. I left part of my heart Merseyside. 2. Please plan on joining me on Universal CityWalk for my concert on the 5 Towers Stage on 12/8/12 . It's going to be a blast and the proper way to start the holidays. It's free and will feature my full band. I will be followed by Juliet Simms from NBC's The Voice . 3. Grammy Award nominations will be announced on Wednesday in Nashville. I will be right here in Los Angeles watching the festivities on TV. Keep those positive vibes coming. There's always hope that yours truly will make the cut. Your Majest...

Cinema Bar Recap and December 8 CityWalk News

Thanksgiving has just passed, but I'm still giving thanks. What a great night we had this month in the cozy confines of the Cinema Bar in Culver City, Nov. 15. The turnout was great and we danced the night away. Opener Sarah D. from Adelaide, Australia with her guitarist Ramon Blanco started the evening right with selections from her new EP and some covers (Karmin) that set the tone. They were a lot of fun. The Inimitables were in fine form. It is thrilling to play with Evie, Kevin, Teresa and Adam The set was pulsing and we played the entirety of ON THE REBOUND.  After rallying the room with Go-To and Rebound ; we pulled off an unrehearsed Bee Gees encore. Here's what we played So Sophisticated Saffron Dancer Your Majestic Rejection Supermodels With Gatling Guns Our Love Is Known By Name A Miracle Is On The Way* A Talent For Loving Huckleberry Finn Airport Kisses* She's My Go-To On The Rebound Encore: Staying Alive * = world premiere In other news, in...
